The garbage disposal areas can be found in two central areas behind each building unit in caged, “racoon proof” bins. For large amounts of trash or bottles, that should be brought to the storage building on the right of the main entrance in the rear of the building, larger bins can be found there.
There are a few options; It is safe to drink the water at Porto Vento directly from the tap and some owners have installed multi staged filters for your added safety. Those of you that prefer bottled water, please ask the security guard at the main gate and he will bring you a large jug to your condo, generally a tip of 20-50 pesos is in order.
The gym is located between both complex’s behind the front lobby as you arrive at Porto Vento. The control for the A/C unit can be obtained from the front gate security.
There are two methods to get around. If you need a taxi, simply ask the front gate security to call a cab for you, rates will very, simply ask the driver for a quote prior to getting in.
If you need public transport you can access a bus across the road in front of Porto Vento there are bus stops not far towards the centre of Ixtapa,,,, or you can flag one down pretty much anywhere. All depending where you are going it will cost you 10 to 20 Pesos per person per one way ride.
In front of Porto Vento you will notice the Bike Path, (Cyclo Pista). It runs from the Marina to Playa Linda about 20 KM. Some owners provide bicycles as part of your stay but if not, rentals are available just a few blocks away and in central Ixtapa.
Transportation from the airport is about 600.00 pesos for the vehicle. (2020 pricing). Taxi fare to the airport is about 300.00 pesos.
When you leave the main gate at Porto Vento a short walk to the left you will find an OXXO about one block, open 24hours also in the centre of Ixtapa there is a larger convenience store, Merza. There you can get all basic things to get you by when you first arrive.
For larger grocery orders you will need to go to Zihuatanejo. For your first trip it may be easier to take a cab in and out. The three main food stores are, Mega (Soriana), Bodega and Sams Club (Member Card required). There is also a central market for fresh produce, fish and fruits. Take the bus to “centro” and its a 3-4 block walk of the main road.
ATM’s machines can be found at numerous places in Ixtapa. The first one closest to Porto Vento is HSBC on the ocean side of the road about 7-10 min walk, by the Park Royal Hotel. Yes your USA or Canadian debit cards work. For cash exchange, “Intercam Banco” in central Ixtapa, USA and Canadian currency, FYI bring your passport.
